Why Telehealth?

Like the rest of the modern world, the pandemic made us rethink how we do things.

A shaky time for us all, lockdown saw our doors shut and all appointments move online. For months our clinic lay silent, only to be interrupted by cleaners and the occasional security check.

As restrictions eased and 2022 approached, we entered our busiest time of year. But despite reopening our doors and appointments filling weeks in advance, the clinic stayed quiet… 3 out of 4 patients still chose Telehealth. A trend that continued month on month.

It was surprising at first, but then it made perfect sense. When you can get the same personalised service from the comfort of your own home, why come in to the clinic?

What is Telehealth?

Telehealth refers to medical appointments that are delivered virtually, by video streaming or by phone call. It’s quickly become a standard service since the pandemic, with the majority of healthcare providers across the country now offering Telehealth as an option. And the feedback from patients has been overwhelmingly positive. The ABS recently released survey results that reported 83.4% of Australians would use it again if it was available.

Why patients prefer Telehealth

As dietitians, we differ from other medical services because we don’t require physical tests or examinations as part of our treatment. 100% of our work is done via discussion, making us the perfect fit for Telehealth. Previously sceptical patients have been surprised at what we can achieve over video or phone call. In fact, many prefer it this way. A huge benefit is having access to their kitchen during appointments, making it easier to ask questions about the products in their pantry.

Other benefits include:

No travel time, or costs

Less time away from home

More time with family (pets included)

Less risk of contracting & spreading COVID-19

How it works

We use industry leading software that’s user-friendly and compatible with any smart device that has a camera (desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile phone). We email you a link, and with one click you’re instantly connected to a virtual treatment room.

It’s really that simple. There’s no login or password and no need to download an app. Patients of all ages find the process quick and easy, even the ones with minimal computer skills.

For phone appointments we call you over a standard phone call.

Now available Australia-wide

More Australians are staying home for their appointments and reclaiming precious time in their day – a shift we’ve seen both in the general population and in our own client base. With the Australian Government extending Telehealth rebates for years to come, it’s clear this service is here to stay.

It’s for these these reasons that we’ve moved primarily to Telehealth appointments. Our focus is now to provide a seamless online experience to all our patients. In-person appointments are still available, however spots are very limited.

If you haven’t tried Telehealth yet, why not give it a go? We guarantee you the same dedicated service with best chances of results.

…because no one knows gut health better than we do.
